Weekend Recap
This time on “The Allen Report”, we journey to Prescott Valley in the mountains of northern AZ. It’s a town known for big hills, wide open spaces and the Findlay Toyota Center, a development arena for the NBA. But on this night, the always competitive Toughest Monster Truck tour rolled into town to start its season for the second straight year.
The headliner of the show was BIGFOOT #21 with Dave Radzierez of XDP Diesel taking the wheel. Jerry Beck returned as the driver of the flying dump truck Dirt Crew along with teammate Quad Chaos, but former Monster Jam driver Bailey Shea-Williams took the driver’s seat of the world’s largest ATV. Finally, Mikeal Christensen driving Vendetta and brother Paul Jensen piloting Kamikaze rounded out the five truck field.
The first of three contests was about wheelies, with up to 20 points on the line. Qualifying would set the race bracket, but the slowest qualifier would sit out side by side racing, the winner of which receiving 30 points. Finally, a perfect freestyle score would be 40; so whoever got the closest to 90 points would be the Overall Event Champion. When a packed house showed up, the drivers delivered on the promise of great action.
Kamikaze and Dirt Crew started the night with a wheelies tie, but the crowd cheer off gave Kamikaze the first win of the night. In racing, Paul Jensen upset BIGFOOT to face Vendetta in the finals. There, the red 1951 Chevy evened the score by taking the win in the finals. In freestyle, BIGFOOT had the lead with a score of 28, but Kamikaze made it a perfect first night for Team Throttle Monster with the freestyle and Overall Championship.
In the final night of competition, a mere four points separated the wheelie contest winner from the 3rd place driver and Kamikaze took the win. Sadly, mechanical problems kept BIGFOOT out of racing. Kamikaze went 2 for 2 on the night after Vendetta broke after the second jump in the Chicago-style racing. Sadly, BIGFOOT’s first freestyle jump put the front tires out of alignment and ended his night. Finally, the white and blue trophy truck from Utah completed a perfect night with a wicked freestyle, taking freestyle win and the Overall Championship.
During intermission between racing and freestyle, the huge crowd was treated to the high-flying, fate-tempting antics of freestyle motocross. The cheers were long and loud as the dirt bike daredevils landed one amazing trick after another. That begins the 2020 season for “The Allen Report”; keep on watching for more show coverage to come. Thanks to Brian Manson and Bryan Wagner and the whole Toughest Monster Truck Tour for having us, thanks so much for reading, enjoy the photos and cheer on!
