Perrin Motorsports Turning the Page

(Coopersville, Michigan – Perrin Motorsports PR) – After a season of wins, awards, and success the Perrin Motorsports Team would like to announce the sale of their current monster truck racing operation and a much needed hiatus from racing.

Perrin Motorsports’ roots began in the Michigan mud in the mid 1980’s when founder Jeff Perrin began competing in local mud bogs with his brother, Jim. The two campaigned a red 1950 Chevy pickup called the Bush Hog. After some fun in the mud Bush Hog naturally transformed to a monster truck with full 66” tires in 1986 and began car crushing. Back in the early days, Bush Hog was pulled from show to show with a school bus hauler and an open trailer.

Jeff and Jocelyn Perrin have been thrilling crowds for nearly 25 years.

Now after dazzling millions of fans and touring the states performing to sold-out houses, the Perrin Family is looking forward to some much needed relaxation after 24 years of racing. The husband and wife team was always a force to be known, from the early days and the beginning of Jocelyn’s career in the Bush Hog to winning the prized Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Team of the Year award in March of 2012. Even after thousands of miles and countless hours of travel up and down the road, one thing never changed, the Perrin’s pure love for the sport of monster truck racing.

Perrin Motorsports has always fielded some of the most eye catching trucks in the industry.

It is no doubt that Jocelyn took the spotlight in recent years driving “Slick Willy”, “Lil’ Miss Dangerous”, and most recently, “High Maintenance” but it wasn’t without the endless hours in the shop and the 110% effort behind the scenes given by her husband, Jeff. Anyone who spent time in the pits at any show the Perrins were performing at could tell you about the the smile he had on his face watching the truck fly though the air or watch Jocelyn interacting with her fans.

The Perrins now look forward to having more time for what’s most important – family.

The much needed home time comes highly anticipated by the Perrin’s daughters, Cassie and Natalie who are looking forward to some fun vacations that don’t involve a monster truck show and even some new pets in the future. Both Cassie and Natalie grew up as “monster truck kids” on the road and behind the scenes with the trucks. Many fans might remember the girls riding their quads on the track before the events in the summer.

Perrin Motorsports’ career highlights include winning 3 back-to-back Monster Nationals Freestyle Championships, 2009 MTRA Truck of the Year, 2008 MTRA Sportsman Award, and 2012 Monster Jam Team of the Year. Having started driving in 1990, Jocelyn retires as the most top ranked independent female drivers in the industry.

Saying goodbye is always difficult.

Their career is dedicated to all of the friends, family, fans, and sponsors who kept the team going throughout the years of racing and in memory of those loved ones who were lost on the journey.

“We will miss the sport but look forward to seeing what this new page has to offer.”

Be on the lookout for a special career highlight video coming in December at www.PerrinMotorsports.com.

BIGFOOT’s Jim Kramer Leads 2012 Hall of Fame Class

(Hazelwood, MO – Team BIGFOOT PR) – Legendary BIGFOOT driver Jim Kramer, one of the most successful and pioneering drivers in the history of monster trucks, led the 2012 class of inductees into the International Monster Truck Museum Hall of Fame this past weekend in Auburn, Indiana.

Kramer, who now joins longtime-friend and BIGFOOT creator Bob Chandler in the Hall of Fame, was the only member of the 2012 class to receive the virtual unanimous thumbs-up for induction from the voting committee, not to mention the overwhelming support for his induction from the industry and its fans on the whole.

Jim Kramer received the most votes of any nominee in the 2012 IMTM Hall of Fame Class.

With 2012 being Kramer’s 30th anniversary with the BIGFOOT team, nearly half of which was spent in the spotlight as one of the team’s most successful drivers, it is fitting that a man who has contributed so much to both his team and industry should find himself inducted into the Hall of Fame in only its second year of operation.

Kramer began his career with BIGFOOT during the mid 1970’s, when he helped Chandler create the parent company that would eventually give birth to the BIGFOOT fleet of trucks, Midwest Four Wheel Drive & Performance Center in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, MO. After selling his stake in the company and taking a hiatus from the 4-wheel drive industry for a few years, Kramer returned at the beginning of the 1980’s to help Chandler campaign his growing fleet of BIGFOOT trucks, which were beginning to gain traction in the public eye.

The popularity of BIGFOOT soared in the 1980’s, largely in part due to Kramer’s aggressive driving style and charismatic on-camera personality that left the competition both frustrated, and admiring. In 1985, Kramer won the first-ever side-by-side monster truck racing event at the New Orleans Superdome, thus setting in motion the wheels that would carry the monster truck industry from a side-show halftime act at tractor pulls into a full-fledged legitimate motorsport.

Not only was Kramer at the tip of the spear as the team’s lead driver for most of the 80’s, but he also was the team’s point man for bringing up new talent through the ranks, a job that he still maintains to this day. Kramer also was and still is a huge proponent of monster truck safety, and his notable contributions include assisting in the development and testing of BIGFOOT #8 in 1989, which set a new standard for both driver and fan safety at the time of its debut.

“I’m extremely honored to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, alongside some of this sport’s truly great personalities,” said Kramer in a post-ceremony interview. “It truly humbles me to receive this recognition not just from the fans, who thank goodness have always stood by me, but from my peers and associates as well. I can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to everyone.”

Jim Kramer delivers his acceptance speech at the 2nd Annual IMTM Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

After accepting his award in the midst of a standing ovation, Kramer, who is well-known for his smooth delivery and collected demeanor when speaking in public, was notably moved during his acceptance speech. In fact, his voice could even be heard cracking a couple of times as he described the sacrifices that 30 years of racing has demanded from him, including time away from his family while campaigning BIGFOOT full-time in the 80’s.

“Jim is a great friend, a great competitor, and all of us at BIGFOOT are very proud of him, and very happy to see him enter the Hall of Fame after contributing so much to this sport,” said BIGFOOT creator Bob Chandler. “I’m extremely happy for him, he truly deserves this; he’s definitely earned it.”

With the 2012 Hall of Fame weekend having drawn to a close, Kramer will now shift his focus forward towards the 2013 season, which now stands less than two months away.

“We’ve got a lot of work to get done before we head out on the road and start racing again in January,” said Kramer. “We’ll be fielding at least one new race truck during the first quarter of 2013, possibly even two. And that’s not to mention BIGFOOT #20, the world’s first electric monster truck, we’ll likely be doing some stuff with that as well, seeing as how popular the truck was at the SEMA show during its public unveiling.”

“Who knows,” added Kramer, a wry smile crossing his face. “I might just suit up one more time and see what that electric truck’s got.”

SPEED Energy BIGFOOT #19 Set to Debut in Aruba

(Hazelwood, Missouri – BIGFOOT PR) – After a successful test session on Saturday, September 29th, BIGFOOT 4X4, Inc. is proud to announce that BIGFOOT #19, the Speed Energy BIGFOOT® monster truck, will debut at the Don Elias Mansur Ballpark in Aruba the weekend of October 26th-28th, 2012!

Larry Swim will debut the brand new SPEED Energy Bigfoot #19 in Aruba later this month.

Veteran driver Larry Swim will take the seat of this beast, battling for the weekend title. Larry’s aggressive driving style will be sure to test this truck to the max. While everyone anxiously waits for the new Concussion Motorsports chassis for BIGFOOT #21 for Long-jump Record Holder Dan Runte, Larry will fill-in with BIGFOOT #19 until his move into BIGFOOT #18. Larry’s prior ride, BIGFOOT #16, is being retired after its 6 year life, following a major crash in Indianapolis in September of this year.

Bigfoot #19 is a very different ride for Team Bigfoot – a bright orange, Chevy bodied and powered, CRD chassis monster truck.

Bob Trent, BIGFOOT VP of Sponsorships and Business Development, was quoted as saying, “We wanted another Concussion chassis BIGFOOT and this just gives us the excuse to go there. The damage to #16 was not so extensive that the awesome BIGFOOT shop guys couldn’t have repaired it – we just wanted another chassis like #18, which has proven, again and again, that it is the very best out there!”

Be sure to look for Larry in the Checkered Flag Productions Monster Truck Winter Nationals Series in 2013 and see him defend his title. Check out www.Bigfoot4x4.com or www.CheckeredFlagProductions.com to see where Larry will be appearing!

Obsession Racing 2012 Press Release #9

(Menifee, California – Obsession Racing PR – By Jill Swanson) – September was the month for Eric to shine! We started off September 1st in Tijuana, Mexico for nVivo Live Events. This was Eric’s first show in Mexico and the first time for Mexico to see Wrongway Rick. The two were a big success! The show was a sold out stadium show featuring racing and freestyle competitions.

In racing Eric took his truck Obsessed to the finals against Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter. Everyone was impressed with his racing skills and it made us proud! In freestyle the fans really enjoyed the concept of the Wrongway Rick truck. Rick put on a fantastic show that put him in the upper half of the freestyle competition. Then Eric went out to prove that racing was not his only talent. He caught big air on everything that he hit and did some extremely fast donuts and kept up a great momentum. Unfortunately on his last big jump he blew a rear steering line when he landed that caused the truck to roll. The fans were happy to see Eric out of the truck and on his feet! After thorough inspection on his truck there was no structural damage just some fiberglass work and the culprit steering line!

Eric Swanson goes for a wild ride in Tijuana as Obsessed ends up on its lid.

We had an event immediately following our Mexico show for WGAS Motorsports in Pomona, California on Thursday night. This event was scheduled for us to run only one truck. Since Eric’s truck Obsessed had some work to be done to it and wouldn’t look presentable, we decided to use Wrongway Rick. Eric was scheduled to run the event so we decided to have him drive Rick’s Wrongway Rick truck for the show. He did a great job in it! He pulled off a lot of wheelies and caught major air off of the double jump! We were all very impressed how he handled the truck because it is so very different than an ordinary monster truck.

Eric Swanson pilots Wrongway Rick for the first time in Pomona.

Our last show in September was for Arizona Short Course Racing. We had both trucks for this event. Eric and Rick did a couple of rounds of exhibition freestyle. This was the first time that they had monster trucks at their events. They felt that with having the monster trucks it would draw more of a crowd and widen their fan base. Having the trucks there was very successful for the Arizona Short Course Racing folks. Rick and Eric put on a great show for them. The crowd really liked it when Eric did a wheelie that ended up on one tire and we were grateful that he was able to keep it in control and save it! They are already looking into having us next year.

We want to thank all of the promoters for putting on the events and a special thanks to our friend Frankie and his family for all of their hard work and support! Our next event for October will be in Red Bluff California for the West Coast Nationals.

Rick Swanson airs out Wrongway Rick in Salinas!

This show had a very unique track. It had both left and right turns in the course. Both of the trucks did very well in racing. In freestyle Eric caught the largest amount of air of the show! We have been attending the Salinas show for many years. It is always good to see long term fans and it a pleasure always to make new ones.

Eric Swanson with a big wheelie in Salinas!

Our next show we headed to Grants Pass, Oregon for California Trucks & Stuff. Eric wasn’t able to attend this show due to school starting. Jimmy and Rick were added attractions for the Grants Pass Fair Tough Truck competition. This show attracts fifty plus tough trucks per night. After they are through with racing the crew from California Trucks & Stuff set up car stacks for the Monster Trucks to freestyle. Everything went smoothly and the crowd was very pleased with their performances!

AMP’s mantra is “Charity brings forth Prosperity” while delivering both to every market visited with local outreach to the children, homeless, and less fortunate.
